In an LERB investigation, Hrycun and Zielie were alleged to have arrested an individual without legal authority or justification in a manner contrary to the Police Service Regulation during an on-duty incident in 2008. The individual had called 911 because of a concern regarding her mother's health. The 911 call was cut off mid-call, prompting the officers to respond; they then detained the individual under the Mental Health Act. The LERB dismissed the matter.
