Yakabuski faced sexual assault charges in 1994 for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in 1992 while on duty. He was relegated to desk duty. The charges were later withdrawn. In 2011, the EPS contacted the former sex worker regarding similar sexual allegations made against Yakabuski by other women.
In 2016, a former sex worker sued Yakabuski for the alleged sexual assault.
The application to dismiss the claim was then adjourned to see if Bill 2,
