In 2015, Vezina was charged with three counts of assault for an off-duty drunken brawl at a nightclub in 2014. The judge called the incident "troublesome" because Vezina used his police badge to try and deal with the matter. He was given a conditional discharge with six months of probation after pleading guilty to assault and causing a disturbance. He resigned before pleading guilty.
