All Spoons Project Funded 2021-2022 Ubuntu-Mobilizing Central Alberta is a registered non profit with an engaging youth council that is made up of high school and university students. We focus on equity, justice, solidarity and providing access for Black people and other communities that have been historically marginalized in central Alberta. Our mission statement is to act as a bridge and connect communities through advocacy and community building. We have completed numerous projects which focused on gender equity, queer representation, diversity, community advocacy and community engagement. In response to food insecurity in central Alberta amongst historically marginalized communities Ubuntu started the All Spoons Project to share skills and resources for participants to learn how to start and maintain a garden. Hungry: A food zine Funded 2020-2021, 2021-2022 From Organizer(s): "Thank you for your support, APIRG! It made it possible for us to test out an idea, and develop the pilot issue of Hungry Zine! We were able to work with 16 contributors, a designer, and pay for printing, thanks to your support!"

Yard Share YEG Funded 2021 Yard Share YEG’s program aims to reduce barriers, empower communities, and increase food security through sharing yard space as a unique alternative to community gardens. Yard hosts and gardeners are matched through an online platform and are provided supplies for continuous support. Gardeners grow food in the host’s yard while sharing a small portion of their harvest with the host as an exchange. This collaboration provides the opportunity for those who are food insecure to share space in which to grow food.

Food Not Bombs (FNB) Funded 2020 FNB is an organisation dedicated to feeding our communities and pushing for a better society where homelessness and poverty are things of the past. They provide hot meals for community members experiencing homelessness and groceries for low-income people as well as participating in the local political sphere.

Edmonton Organic Growers Guild (EOGG) Funded 2010-2019, 2021-2022 Formerly known as the University Farm and Organic Growers. Edmonton Organic Growers Guild (EOGG) is a local volunteer-run urban farming initiative. They grow organic produce, encourage learning and eating, and provide food from their harvest to member volunteers and local food banks. They charge no fees and welcome folks from all walks of life.

I See Sprouts Funded 2013-2014 I See Sprouts is a non-profit program that is aimed at teaching inner city, and new Canadian children their role in community based food security and sustainability. The program centers on a child driven approach at teaching the students how to make wholesome, local, seasonal, and affordable food. The program raises awareness within the University of Alberta community of the importance of our food security. It also provides volunteer opportunities for University of Alberta students.

Campus Community Garden Funded 2003-2008 Goals: To produce food on campus without the use of pesticides, chemicals, genetically modified plants, or treated city water. To provide organic, fresh, and healthy food for students through the Campus Food Bank, a market garden, or another similar program. To create nature-connected recreational opportunities for students. To promote the cultivation of local, hardy, and easily managed vegetables.
