Intersections of Queer Series (IQS)

Since 2016, the Intersections of Queer Symposium has brought 2SLGBTQ+ communities together in Amiskwaciwâskahikan (Edmonton) to share knowledge and build connections. The event, organized each year by The Landing Society, the University of Alberta Community Social Work Team, APIRG, and other community groups, complicates the idea that there is only one “queer community” or “queer experience.” Instead, we celebrate the huge variety of LGBTQ2S+ histories, identities, experiences and dreams for the future, teaching each other as peers and building solidarity in each others’ struggles. In 2020, we changed our format from a one-day annual event to the ongoing, virtual workshop series called the Intersections of Queer Series.
