University of Alberta Women's Centre Collective (UAWCC)

Funded 2003-2012 The U of A Women’s Centre exists to provide a supportive environment for education, networking and organizing around women-specific issues within the campus community and beyond. It is a space dedicated to community building and activism, supporting women and women-positive groups to connect, dialogue, organize and create around issues and ideas. The Centre offer funding and administrative resources to support groups in carrying out their projects.

Vector Vault

Funded 2019-2020 From Funding Recipient: "Vector_Vault could not have happened without APIRG’s support. From the application process to the finalization and promotion of our website, we felt well supported by APIRG. We appreciate that they understood the value of this service despite the fact that it is addressing a need in a very specific field. Voices for Choices

Funded 2010-2012 Voices for Choices is a non-hierarchical, collective group of individuals who are working to establish and promote a pro-choice, sex and queer-positive, as well as woman-friendly presence on and around the University of Alberta campus and the City of Edmonton.

Voices of Albertans with Disabilities Society (VAD)

Funded 2018-2019 Voice of Albertans with Disabilities (VAD) is dedicated to supporting individuals, organizations, government representatives, schools, business personnel and employers to reduce the barriers and find solutions that prevent full participation.

Weaving to Reclaim: A Kaffiyah Study

Funded 2020-2021 Research project. From Funding Recipient(s): "We are hand weaving a series of textiles to explore and reclaim Palestinian cultural heritage. Thanks to research funding from APIRG, we were able to purchase books and interview individuals with practical weaving knowledge and knowledge of Palestinian textile heritage. This research has allowed us to make monumental progress in our work. Our project would not be possible without APIRG's support, and we are immensely grateful! " https://www.instagram.com/weavingtoreclaim/ An experimental journey that explores and reclaims diminishing Palestinian heritage, craft, and identity. Each study incrementally builds to the final piece in the series: a handwoven Kaffiyah, a scarf that distinctly symbolizes Palestinian identity.

Writing Revolution in Place (WRIP)

Funded 2017-2018 A grassroots reading and writing group that collaborates with Humanities 101 at the University of Alberta.

Yard Share YEG

Funded 2021 Yard Share YEG’s program aims to reduce barriers, empower communities, and increase food security through sharing yard space as a unique alternative to community gardens. Yard hosts and gardeners are matched through an online platform and are provided supplies for continuous support. Gardeners grow food in the host’s yard while sharing a small portion of their harvest with the host as an exchange. This collaboration provides the opportunity for those who are food insecure to share space in which to grow food.

YEGTheComeUp (TCU)

Funded 2019-2020 YEGTheComeUp (TCU) is a youth program under the Africa Centre. The collective works towards empowering and sharing various voices and experiences of young peoples of African and Caribbean descent. By coming together to discuss youth-relevant topics through the inclusion of diverse cultures and experiences, YEGTheComeUp provides a means for building and supporting identity, collective and self-awareness and community

Youreka Edmonton Symposium

Funded 2020-2021 https://yourekacanada.org/ From Funding Recipient(s)/Event Organizer(s): "Youreka Edmonton aims to educate motivated high school students in the composition and presentation of a research project. This year, our initiative was funded in large part by APIRG, who graciously provided revenue that was essential in enhancing our student experience. Through their generosity, we were able to award $500 in cash prizes to our top research teams, and provide every student of ours with a full size scientific poster to remember their experience. We cannot thank APIRG enough for their generosity, inclusivity and support."

Youth Anti-Racism Project (YAP)

Funded 2003-2004 YAP’s objectives are to recruit and train new volunteers and conduct anti-racism education workshops. YAP volunteers are committed to mobilizing other youth.
