Tagging Rationale

In an effort to simplify our workflow, as well as aid others unfamiliar with more traditional archival tagging systems, we have created our own set of tags based on social tagging. 

While the summer 2020 team was becoming familiar with the items within this collection, they individually began to assign tags, which accurately described the contents. After a short time of this, they compiled their tags into an index to remove duplicates and create a plan for how to add tags in the future.  The summer 2021 team continued to tag newly uploaded items with existing tags, adding new tags where needed, and then revised the index below to reflect new tags.  This digital repository uses the results of this process to describe the types of materials, related persons and organizations, and other important information, which could be of use to curious newcomers and researchers alike. 

We  welcome you as the user to participate in item tagging as you become familiar with the contents of repository items, in order to help us provide more granular discriptions of each item.  To add a new tag to an item, scroll to the bottom of the page, enter the tag in the text box, and then click "Tag It!"  This tag index will be cross-checked and updated each summer.
